Art of Alanya — 9th International Art Exhibition
In November 2024, my work was selected for Art of Alanya — the 9th International Art Exhibition, organized by the Alanya Municipality Foreigners’ Committee and held at the Alanya Cultural Centre.
The exhibition brought together around 80 artists from different countries and across a wide range of artistic disciplines.
Its central idea was simple: art can create a common language between people who may otherwise have very little in common.
I find this particularly meaningful in an international exhibition.
An artwork does not require the viewer to share the artist’s language, background or experience. The encounter begins before anything needs to be explained.
We may understand a work differently. We may even see something in it that the artist never intended.
But for a moment, the work creates a space in which two different experiences can meet.
Perhaps this is one of the quiet powers of art: it does not need us to be the same in order to connect us.
