Research as Part of the Practice
Art on Billboard — Art in the Urban Space
In April 2024, my work was presented on a large-scale digital screen as part of the Art on Billboard project.

Seeing an artwork in the city is fundamentally different from seeing it in a gallery.

A gallery asks us to enter a space with the intention of looking at art. In the street, that agreement disappears.

People are going to work, waiting at a traffic light, meeting someone, looking through a bus window.

And suddenly, an artwork enters that ordinary moment.

I found this shift particularly interesting.

The work was no longer surrounded by white walls or separated from everyday life. It existed alongside architecture, traffic, advertisements, movement and the changing rhythm of the city.

Most people who encountered it did not choose to see it.

For a few seconds, art simply became part of their environment.

That experience changed the way I thought about where an artwork belongs.

Perhaps art does not always need us to come to it. Sometimes it can come to us.
