Research as Part of the Practice
Interview with HINATA — Infinite Creativity Creating an Art Language
In January 2024, HINATA Official Magazine published an interview about my artistic practice titled Infinite Creativity Creating an Art Language.

The conversation gave me an opportunity to look back at how my visual language had developed — from an early instinct to experiment with materials to finding alcohol ink and learning to work with its unpredictability rather than against it.

We spoke about the natural phenomena that influenced my work at the time: the Northern Lights, clouds, the night sky and nebulae. I was drawn not to reproducing their appearance, but to their movement, depth and constant transformation.

The interview also touched on something that remains important to me: experimentation.

I have never been particularly interested in mastering a material simply to control it. I am more interested in discovering what happens when the material is allowed to behave in ways I cannot completely predict.

Looking back at the interview now, I can see a practice that has changed considerably since 2024.

The subjects have evolved. The materials have expanded. The questions behind the work have become different.

But one principle has remained:

I am still more interested in discovering a visual language than repeating one I already know.
