In September 2023, a selection of my works was presented at Invitation Exhibition 2023 at Ester Gallery in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

At this stage of my practice, I was working with several paintings as a connected group rather than thinking about each work entirely on its own.

This changed something important.

Placed together, the works began to create relationships between themselves. A gesture continued from one painting into another. Colours repeated and shifted. Empty spaces became as important as the forms around them.

I began to understand a series not simply as several works made in the same style, but as a conversation.

Each painting could remain independent while contributing something to the whole.

Presenting these works together at Ester Gallery allowed me to see that relationship outside the studio for the first time.

Sometimes a body of work reveals something that a single artwork cannot say alone.
